By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand The National Principles and how they apply to your role.

  • Have an increased understanding of the types of risks children face in an organisation and how to reduce these risks.

  • Develop an understanding of strategies to respond to disclosures and concerns a child may be at risk.

  • Discuss ideas for how your organisation can increase their commitment to child safety.

Why do it?

The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse looked at thousands of cases where organisations in Australia had failed to protect children in their care from abuse. In 2017, the Royal Commission recommended 10 child safe standards to keep children safe from sexual abuse, drawing on its findings, research and consultation about what makes organisations child safe.

In a child safe organisation staff are able to prioritise the needs and safety of children and respond appropriately to children who have experienced harm or who are at risk.

Growing Future’s training is easy to understand, practical, and can be tailored to your organisation’s needs.

"The training was very informative and interactive which makes it easier to understand"
