Recognising and responding to trauma in the classroom


Who this training is for:

This two hour workshop is designed for schools and Early Education Settings and will support staff to recognise and respond to children who have experienced complex trauma. 


What to expect:

This two-hour workshop can be delivered in person at your organisation, or online

All participants must be aged 18+

No prior knowledge required


By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the types of trauma children can experience

  • Recognise what trauma can look like in a classroom setting and develop and understanding of why some behaviours occur

  • Develop strategies to support children in a classroom setting who have experienced trauma


Why do it?

Childhood trauma can often have significant impacts on a child's ability to engage with schooling and develop peer relationships. Educators and teachers can play a significant role in supporting young people who have experienced trauma but they need the knowledge and skills to do this. 

Supporting children who have experienced trauma can in turn lead to vicarious trauma for staff if they lack the knowledge needed to effectively support children whilst looking after their own wellbeing.
